The Queen Conch Pearl

The Queen Conch (prononced "konk") is a large marine gastropod found only in the warm waters of the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico.

 

​It is estimated that only 1 in 10,000 conch will produce a "pearl", which is actually a calcareous concretion.  Only 10% of conch pearls will be considered gem quality.
